So, I am on my walk with Kovu late this afternoon minding my own business and taking in the crisp air when I saw a guy fishing in our neighborhood lake. I looked over at him and asked if he had caught any today. He responded with a "No, not yet". As he says this I am walking away but as I am walking away I tell myself, OMG, that is Casey Daigle. I know, most people don't know who Casey Daigle is, but being the baseball nut that I am I happen to know who Casey is (right handed pitcher who signed with the Texas Rangers three weeks ago). At that point I was totally excited and didn't know what to do. I so badly wanted to look back and say "hi" and wish him luck for the upcoming season......BUT, I chickened out. I continued on my way but told myself that I would have to quickly figure out my game plan......I would take another lap around the lake and when I saw him I would ask if he knew what the time was - that would break the ice I thought. I finished my lap in record time (amazing what I will do when there is a handsome baseball player in my midst) and when I saw him again out of my mouth came "any luck"? His response....."Yep, just caught one". I continued on a few steps (kicking myself) and then back tracked and asked him if he was Casey. He responded with a solid "Yes", and a kind "Do I know you?". I said "No, but that I was a fan of his as well as his wife" (his wife is the beautiful and awesome softball player Jennie Finch). I told him that I was pleased that he had signed with the Rangers as they are in major need of some good pitching (he looked at me shocked as few people are even aware that he had signed with the Rangers). It was so great talking with him and he was an absolute sweetheart. He signed my Rangers hat for me (he laughed because he didn't think that anyone in California had a Rangers hat). So, on top of hitting a few Dodger games this year, I will need to make a few visits to Anaheim Stadium when the Angels are playing the Rangers. Spring Training and baseball can't come quick enough for this baseball lover.
