December has been an exciting month for our family as we enjoyed getting ready for the holidays. Some of the things we did to get in the holiday spirit included two trips looking at neighborhood lights, a fun Christmas party at church, an exciting party put on by my dear friend Julie where Santa and Mrs. Claus was present, several trips to Disneyland and California Adventure, decorating our tree, singing Christmas songs. Many memories were made in the making and I am so thankful that we were able to share them together as a family.

Bittersweet Day
Yesterday was a very bittersweet day for me. On the positive side, it was my last day working until 1/2/09 when I join the Ethics Group at AT&T. The bittersweet part is that it was the last day of me supporting AT&T's LA Market and therefore will no longer be working with my favorite ARSM Pam Riggio (and no, it isn't because she has the best first name in the world that I love working with her so much). I know I am not supposed to be partial but it was hard not to be when she is just such an awesome person to work with. Pam is by far the hardest working ARSM out there and I don't know how she does it all! I know to most people HR is a waste and puts nothing but obstacles in your way, but Pam understands the importance and takes the time to dive into the difficult HR items and to take care of them. I have so enjoyed working with Pam but the even better part of it is that through our close working relationship, we have built a strong bond and friendship. It isn't very often that a "true" friend comes into your life so I am so glad that I was able to meet Pam. I so respect Pam in so many ways and am glad to call her my "true" life-long dear friend.

High Honor Roll For Ryan
I am so proud of my Ryan! Yesterday I attended an assembly at his school for all 6th graders in which he was honored for High Honor Roll for the 1st trimester. Ry was just 1 of 2 in his class and 1 of 12 from all the 6th grade classes to receive high honors. His average was a 3.7. Equally important were the comments made by his teacher Mr. Little that Ry is a good friend to all the children in the class and how he likes to help out his fellow students. As you can imagine, I was one beaming Mom in the crowd as Mr. Little announced Ry's name and called him up to provide him with his certificate. Way to go Ryan, we are all so proud of you!!! Keep up the terrific work.

Out of the Mouth of Lindsay
I love my conversations with Lindsay on the way home from school as they are always eventful. Not only does she tell me what letter they worked on and what they had for lunch, she always tells me which boy got in trouble as well as one item that just cracks me up. Today was no exception.
Out of the blue she starts talking about our Christmas Party at church next Friday evening. I asked Lindsay if she was still going to be a shepherd and she promptly responded back, "No Mommy, I am going to be a Wise Woman". I responded back "Do you mean a Wise Man?" She said, "No Mommy, a Wise Woman". Hum, this is going to be interesting trying to put together a costume for a Wise Woman - any suggestions?

Disneyland Fun
On Saturday, November 22nd, Steve, Lindsay and I went to Disneyland and had a blast! We hit a few rides but the highlight was all the characters we got to spend time with including Chip & Dale, Alice, Peter Pan as well as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Lindsay excitedly sat next to Santa and explained to him that she wants a bike for Christmas. We will have to wait and see if Santa comes through this Christmas.
Haircut Time
Thursday, November 20th was a monumental day for Lindsay - it was the day of her 1st haircut. I know, you are thinking she is 4 years and 3 months and is just getting her 1st haircut? Well, at 15 months she started the habit of when she was tired and sucking her thumb, she would pull her hair. She still sucks her thumb when she gets tired but has substituted what we call "lion hair" for pulling her hair. She has a rocking lion that has a big mane of lion fur (well, it once had) that she pulls off and now uses as she wipers and sucks her thumb. She figured this out completely on her own and I am so proud of her. She totally enjoyed getting her haircut and she said is looking forward to getting her next haircut already.
Way to go Lindsay - Daddy, Ryan and I are so proud of you!!!!

Happy Halloween 2008
Halloween was a blast! Lindsay was Tinkerbell and Ryan was a baseball player. On Thursday we carved our pumpkin (I have officially lost my job of cleaning out the pumpkin as Ryan took over this endeavor all on his own). On Halloween we started out our evening with a party at church and then back home for treat-or-treating. It was a fun-filled evening had by all. Lindsay is already planning what she will be next year.

A Priceless Feeling
This morning I experienced one of those "priceless feelings" that make your heart melt. As Lindsay was walking in line with her class, she looked back at me with her arms crossed in the love sign, blew me three kisses and then proceeded to grin from ear to ear. What a great way to start a Monday morning! Thanks Lins for making my week!!!

The Cat Whisperer
When I turned 40 just a few short years ago, I opted for the Exotic Cat as opposed to the Exotic Car or Exotic Cruise. I have always been a fan of big cats (i.e. lions, tigers, leopards not house cats that should be on a diet)... so we got Tecuya who was a 1 year old Bengal in 2006. All was fine with her for well over a year as long as you don't count the Indy 500 episodes, the stalking of the Zeebras (Ryan & Lindsay), and the Midnight Meowing Musicals.
In May of 2007, Tecuya decided her cat box was optional and started finding other places to go. At first, I wasn't too concerned because those optional places were tubs and showers, but the line was crossed in November of 2007 when we caught her doing her business in a corner of the hard wood floors. Though this was a sporadic event, multiple solutions were still instigated to prevent said cat from ending up in the microwave.
Sometime in early January of 2008 it stopped as we figured out the culprit was "cat stress" caused by a cute but demanding 3 1/2 year old. Then in May of 2008 the Tsunami hit, Tecuya sought out greener pastures. Unfortunately the greener pasture was a Hunter Green carpet and not grass (though Muffy does it there too, but she is cut slack as she is 15 years old). Yet, Tecuya would still go in her box the majority of the time.
Normal solutions (both chemical and literal) were not working so I started treating her not as a cat but as a child. I began talking to her and explaining "certain" things. I even had the "talk" with her. Now when she has to go to the bathroom, she comes and meows at me until I follow her to the designaed place. She then does her business and goes back to her 18 hour nap. Sure... some may say it's the Cat Nip Reward, the carpet freshner or the new cat litter, but we all know that a Cat Whisperer has been born.
So you may be asking yourself what the point of this story? Actually there really wasn't any. I just had about 30 minutes to kill before going to bed and thought the title sounded funny.

"Heart Stops Beeping"
Lindsay continues to enjoy herself at Tutor Time Day Care. She loves her friends, teachers and is well on her way to learning the alphabet. Each week there is a special theme and she was excited to tell me tonight when I picked her up that it is "Body" week. She continued to tell me that when our "heart stops beeping" that we die. After cracking up so hard I had to compose myself and let her know that it is when our "heart stops beating" that we pass away. She adamently explained to me that her ears were all open and she was listening closely to Ms. Auli (her teacher) and Ms. Auli said "beeping". I wonder what I will be learning tomorrow night from Lindsay and Ms. Auli?

Happy Anniversary Honey!
Well, I was able to finally convince my wonderful husband (without any complaints from him... see our engagement photo to right, July 1991) that it was time the Bridges family had a blog. Steve enthusiastically put it together and it will be a joint effort going forward.
Today is a very special day for Steve and me. We are celebrating our 17th anniversary. It seems like just yesterday that we said our vows. I feel so blessed to have such a terrific husband and I truly appreciate all that he does for me, Ryan and Lindsay (and of course I can't forget Kovu, Muffy and Tecuya). In just four short years I will have known Steve as long as I didn't know him - my how time goes quickly. I am grateful that our paths crossed and am hopeful for many more happy years together.
Love ya Honey!
