Our favorite front desk clerk (you know the one who recommend the trolley tour) lost our shuttle reservation to the port. Luckily her supervisor took pity on us and assigned a new shuttle to take us at no charge. Our driver didn't want us to wait in a long boarding line so took us to another ship. Realizing that would probably not work and cost him his tip, he went back around the block to the correct off loading zone. While boarding we were able to talk to a "Dean Olsen" clone and get bumped up to Group 2... I don't know the significance but I now have a souvenir card. Also standing in line we were astonished that all the previous days' trolley folk, their brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles were joining us for this cruise.
Exploring the ship we found it not to be as populated as our last cruise out of Tampa, although our room was slightly smaller and we had a spaceship for a shower. Once the dinner bell sounded the old cows congregated in the hall waiting for their chance to feed. Some rather than follow proper etiquette and go to the end of line maneuvered their way in to form new lines. Hey it's 5:30 and these old people need to eat! Thankfully we were spared a particular Floridian group as our dinner companions as she had already identified 5 things she hated about this cruise in the first hour. Our dinner companions consisted of three couples: an older Connecticut couple who would not eat broccoli nor be forced to eat it, an Atlantian couple who were slightly older than us but appeared newly married as they had a lot of separate stories ranging from insurance to vacations, and the invisible couple who have yet to show. So far the entertainment has been good as the comedian and ship dancers have exceeded the Carnival nightmare.
